Gaspard Meric

Founder/Carpenter

Gaspard has been working as a carpenter for 17 years, after studying post and beam carpentry in France and gaining a level 5 RNCP equivalent in timber engineering.

Having always focused on alternative engineering solutions to concrete and steel, he started what would eventually become Eco Frame 2017. He is passionate about supporting the local economy, promoting sustainability, and delivering high quality craftsmanship.

In his spare time, Gaspard enjoys spending time with his wife and two young sons – going for walks in the woods, gardening, and observing wildlife. He also enjoys cycling, hiking, surfing, skiing, kayaking… and any opportunity to get out into the great outdoors!

Gaspard Meric, owner of Eco Frame & specialist eco construction adviser.

“We are lucky to live in the north of Scotland, where we have such incredible natural resources and the opportunity to promote a healthy relationship between ourselves, the places we live and work, and the world around us.

“My aim is to bring together locally sourced materials and skilled craftspeople with healthier, more sustainable methods of construction. Strong communication, clear management, affordability and trust are all key to this philosophy.

“I really believe in passing on traditional skills to the next generation. Many skilled carpenters and business owners took time and money to train me – and that’s why I decided my first employee would be an apprentice. I am fully willing to commit to paying a reasonable wage to allow people in their late 20s and beyond to be able to afford to go back to college and learn new skills.”

Harry Barker

Apprentice Joiner

Harry has been working in the construction industry for a number of years, beginning with traditional dry stone walling and progressing into building environmentally friendly houses. He has recently joined Eco Frame as an apprentice joiner.

In his spare time, Harry lifts weights at the gym, plays bass with his band, and regularly enjoys rock climbing.

“At Eco Frame, we use a very different style of building compared to the Scottish industry standard.

“It’s a much more sustainable method of construction that is better for the environment and the people living in the buildings – as we are using environmentally friendly and less-processed materials.

“Every day I get to learn something new about the job, especially with the unique tools and methods we use for our work.”
